Antin Jaremchuk

Antin Jaremchuk

Antin Jaremchuk's association with Vanier probably goes back as far as any "root" we have honoured.  He is the only person nominated for this award that has actually had several distinct roles with Vanier and our clients.  Antin's roots were established as a staff member in the early days of Vanier when he was hired as a child and youth counsellor and recreation coordinator. He had recently graduated from U.W.O. in physical education and had coached children's sports extensively.  Antin's interest in youth counselling was combined with his (continuing) interest in the outdoors.  His skill and interest were put to good use in planning and supervising wilderness camping trips for the youth.   During his time here, between 1972 and 1975, Antin became a supervisor and senior staff member in the residential treatment program.

Antin returned to Vanier in 1991 as a Board Member and remained on the Board of Directors until 2002.  Antin saw Vanier through challenging times brought about by the recession of the 1990s and the introduction of the "Social Contract" and the Funding cuts of the late 1990s.  Antin assumed the role of President of the Board in 1996/1997.
