Petra Taylor

Petra Taylor

Petra Taylor has played a role in representing Vanier and the importance of this cause, for many years. Petra joined our Board of Directors in June 2009, and recently retired from the board in June 2016. Normally, a director's full term will end at 6 years of service, if they choose to remain for the entire period.

Petra was asked to extend her volunteer governance work by another year, to maintain governance stability during a time of much change. She didn't hesitate to agree.
Petra held the role of Vice-Chair over many of these years, chairing the Governance Committee, and stepping in to chair board meetings when required. She also sat on the executive director hiring committee in 2012. Petra also mentored the new Executive Director, (Joanne Sherin) in the area of public relations and fund development.

For those of you who don't know, Petra was the founding executive director of the Glen Cairn Neighbourhood Family Centre, originally fostered through administrative supports offered by Vanier. Her passion for making a difference in the lives of kids and their families is obvious!
We are delighted to give this year's "Root Award" to someone so deserving.

Congratulations, Petra!!
