Focused Family Therapy Internship

This Internship provides master’s level candidates in social work, psychology, and counselling, an opportunity to practice their clinical skills in a supportive environment with robust clinical supervision offered onsite. The student journey will follow a steady progression to become familiar with the environment and the client group while challenging them to utilize the skills they have learned in their respective programs, beginning with shadowing child and family therapists during solution-focused single sessions before taking the lead. Shortly after that, brief therapy clients will be assigned, offering various presenting circumstances, and there will often be opportunities to shadow a child and family therapist with a family engaged in full family therapy. An internship at Vanier allows you to develop and strengthen clinical skills and deepen your understanding of the therapeutic alliance. It is a demanding and rewarding chance to learn amongst some of the strongest clinicians serving Children and Families in Ontario.
