Vanier has offered live-in treatment service since 1965. Such treatment is designed to reduce the severity of mental health challenges, strengthen coping and resilience, and improve functioning at home, school and in the community. The goal is always to work with the family to transition the child home. There are three phases of live-in treatment;
- The Engagement Phase: Involves family therapy to map out treatment goals. Sometimes that resolves the issue and an admission is not needed.
- Residential Phase: Children live at Vanier while maintaining contact with their family members. Some children attend Vanier’s on-campus school.
- Transition Phase: Supports the child to move home full time.
